There are poker players who are trying to explain to the lawmakers that poker is not just about money, but it is also a game of skills.
Miami Herald reported an article about that and it said that sometimes we have to forget that poker games often take place in casino and that the games contain a lot of money. Actually the poker game is much more a game of skill than a game of chance.
If also the lawmakers in state capitals and Congress see poker in the same way, it could help expanding online poker and games of live poker in places where poker is still illegal.
In Florida for example, poker is already legal and its internet poker players still benefit from increased gambling options.
If poker is considered a skill game by the federal government, it could be exempt from the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) that passed Congress in 2006.
Poker players are optimistic about the subject and they really believe that lawmakers will consider poker games as they do. Besides, poker involved in court cases in Pennsylvania, Colorado and South Carolina, is on a good way to be considered a game of skills.
